Being Unique

Today I want you to use your imagination it's ok I will wait some of you might have trouble finding it. I want you to imagine that you are in a jungle with nothing but the clothes on your back no food, cellphone, or ipod. With thousands of other people that you didnt even know. No family or friends to confide in. Having to find and hunt for your own food, In my book They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky the young boys were going through worse conditions. Walking from one village to another without even having on shoes and hardly any clothes. Do you think that you would be able to survive in the jungle for two weeks under the same type of conditions? Explain why or why not.

  1. I probably would survive the jungle for two weeks. I would probably lose my humanity before I die. I have eaten insects when I was a kid and did not enjoy it at all. I already know how to make fire out of wood. I know how to make weapons in the jungle for self defense. I've watched too many movies/shows and they have taught me a lot of things. If I can survive a needle to my spine or my military gym class then surviving in a jungle should be nothing. Even though, I could make a boat that can lead me to civilization in a week.

  2. Living in the jungle for two weeks i do not believe i would survive.... I would have no food and wait did i say NO FOOD!!!! enough said!!!! lol no but there would be animals out there and i look and smell so good that they would try to eat me and i would disappear into a cave that i would have thought belonged to a human to find out that it belonged to the wolves and they would chase me and i would hide in a tree only to see a big bear and hes family. By the bears thinking that I'm trying to attack him and his family, all of them goes into defense mode and starts to retaliate and and kill me. So i would run til i cant run anymore and i would go to sleep and wake up doing it all over again!!!

  3. No. I would die. Non existing. Poof. Gone. It would be a complete culture shock. Not in a good way either. Most likely I would first have a heart attack due to the weather. (i think africa is hot? i've never been but it looks extremely dry, so i'll go off of pictures) Another major factor to my death would probably be the water source. Yeah you need water, but when it's infested with malaria (can that heppen?) you're going to die. So in case you were still confused about my living situation in Africa, let me tell you...there isn't one.

  4. I have gone camping before, and I have survived a couple nights without my phone and Ipod. I have also been in a program called 30 hour famine where we did not eat for 30 hours, which was hard but do-able. now if I was doing this for 2 weeks I personally know that I would not survive. I would crash and burn!

  5. I would seriously die the first week. First of all I hate public swinging areas. So me having to jump in nasty water is strike one. The moment I feel something gross touching my feet on the ocean floor, I'm running for dodge. Not to mention I don't want to see the process of how my food is killed and made. The site of something like that would spoil my appetite. Being that I don't even no how to hunt, I might kill something that's poisonous and wouldn't even know. I also refuse to walk long distance my little flat feet would give out in five minutes. I'm just not built for the wild, unfortunately my mother didn't prepare me for something like this.

  6. I definitely think it would be a challenge. I would try and do everything i could to survive but i honestly think i would go insane. I am a city girl, I love being surrounded by a lot of people and always having something to do. My uncle is from Ohio and we go there for 4th of July weekend every year. We usually stay for a week but by the 3rd day I go insane, I cant take it anymore. When I go camping the same thing happens I like going for 2 to 3 days but after that i can't take the quite anymore. Yes its peaceful and relaxing and you have the fresh air but i would prefer to be in the noisy polluted air crazy city. So if I had to be in a jungle for 2 weeks I would die of insanity. I need to be around other people. They desert heat I couldn't stand either and they have like billions of mosquito's so they would like bite me to death. You have all the snakes and wild animals which would probably bite me and kill me. Plain and simple I don't think I could survive by just having animals to talk to and no one around

  7. If i was to be stranded in a jungle i would first experience anxiety and sadness. I would definitely miss my family, electronics including my friends. It would be dark from the trees, cold from the water and mist. I would come into contact with a lot of predators, parasites and many diseases. After the second day of me knowing that this isn't a joke i would hunt for my food and supplies and eventually i wouldn't find it any problem and it may become fun and even time myself. I would go to the nearest lake or river to wash and tie my clothes in order to protect anything to enter my body internally. I would soon create a cabana and venture out to the forest to become friendly with the creatures. They can help me gather food and supplies in order to survive these two weeks and then im off own my own crafted boat!

  8. Even though it would be hard I think that I could last two weeks in the jungle. Even though I'm not used to going days without showering, eating,or seeing family. I feel that if you are a strong minded person you will be able to make it. Being in the jungle would test how much you value your life.

  9. yess. I THINK I CAN SURVIVEEE STACIA, IM THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT IF IM IN THE WORST POSITION, I CAN MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. I'M NOT A NEGATIVE THINKER SO WHEN IM IN A BAD SITUATION I THINK ABOUT THE POSITIVES OF IT, GETTING OUT , LIVING A GOOD LIFE AFTER ALL OF IT IS MY BIGGEST THOUGHT. HAVING FAIIITH IS IMPORTANT. THANKS YOU!!!! MY PERSONAL THINGS ARE A BIG PART OF MY LIFE BUT I WOULDNT WORRY ABOUT THOSE THINGS WHEN IM IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS. WITH MY CREATIVE MIND IN A JUNGLE WITH NOTHING FOR TWOOO WHOLE WEEK>>>> I WOULD ALWAYS GO GET WATER FROM SOMEWHERE NO MATTER >WHERRE< IT IS MAYBE IN WILL RAIN AND I'L DRINK LIKE AHHHHHHH(MOUTH OPEN)AHHHHHHHHHH(LOOKING UP) AHHH
HHH... OMG BUT HONESTLY I WOULD TAKE SOME LEAVES AND ROLL THEM UP TO PRETEND IM EATING SOME SALAD OR SOMETHING...ENTERTAINMENT WONT BE A PROBLEM FOR ME , IL JUST TALK TO THE BIRDS OR MONKEYS LIKE THIS***oo oo oo ahh, ke kekkeee, hmiuoprub. blah abblahh) THAT MEANS HELLO. 12. (Honestly, i do not think i would last long with the shoes that i have on just now, not to mention i have flat feet! Definitely would be VERY tiring!)
With that being said, first, i would make my way through into finding wood, because it can be useful to many things. One can be to keep myself warm during the night, and the other can useful when it comes to food. Since there are other people stranded in the middle of nowhere, i would try and collide with someone to go out and hunt for as much food as possible. Because there are so much animals in the wood, i would definitely go and look for the animals that look more delicious (if that's even possible!)
Besides two weeks without a shower? How gross. That would definitely be a major problem. Not just with me but being stranded in a place with a lot of people who smell horrible? Yuck.
It would be hard for me to survive and keep my patience with people. But colliding all together MIGHT just work.

    ........I hope.

  13. @Miguel I completely agree with you. The water I wouldn't even step foot in. Also me and hot weather don't mix. So I'm sure death by a heat stroke would be in my future.

  14. To Dominick: I believe that at least so far you have the most experience it shouldn't be to hard for you to survive to weeks without electronics! You have a general idea of at least how to survive but its in a forest there's plenty of food to eat...so you wont have to worry about the 30 hour famine.

  15. Miguel.

you are so educated about Africa! but I do agree with you, you and me will die together and it wont be a pretty sight. haha. but ya I agree that Africa is no walk in the park, it would be hard and you pretty much summed it up very well.

  16. @Britney if your dealing with bears I suggest you bring and extra person with you. They won't kill you if you can out run the person next to you.

  17. Wow, Mike.

Miguel......You should try some grass and some leaves.

  18. I would go nuts after the first two days in that jungle. First I really do not like bugs, so I can imagine the big dangerous bugs that can most likely kill you. Second I hate humidity I hate the discomfort of heat and feeling sticky. Most likely there are no showers so I can imagine a dirty river in the jungle, and the animals in the river, snakes, fish probably the size of a child, and anacodas.yikes! Finally I do not like the feeling of being anxious. Anixous of not knowing my surroundings. The boys from the book were raised since birth to hunt for their food, walk around with hardly clothes and to have caution toward wild life. Since I have werid phobias about things espeacially germs I would most likely find some flat, plain area and stay there in anxiety!ahhhh

ps. i was in flordia during spring break and i went to the beach, little did my friend and i pay attention to the sting ray mating season, we were in the water and there was a family of sting rays swim toward us, i have never been so scared in my life i kept thinking of steve irwin the crocidile guy who died from the werid sting ray accident.

  20. @JODECI- I completely agree with you. Flat feet is a pain in civilized life, I can't even imagine being in the wilderness with feet like ours. Are our mothers related? Because mine didn't prepare me for something this extreme as well. Jeez. Good going mom.

@DOMINICK- I can't believe you went without food for 30 hours. I would never have the stamina to continue with that for more than 6 hours. So kudos to you. As for the whole crashing and burning thing. I'm there with ya.

  21. Im judging you mike!!! I see how you would think that you would survive, but I dont think you know the consequences of doing the things that you say your going to do! like eating the leaves for example... those leaves are not the healthiest leaves in town, and if your not lucky you can get sick and DIE.

  26. @Brandononcope20 I liked your idea of building a boat. I can tell by your response that you put a lot of thought into this blog. I like how you mentioned that you would miss family and material things but you would still do what it takes to survive.

  27. @Stacia, In our book, the little boys risk a lot. The food, the diseases, etc. I definitely think you value your life even more. You think about the people who do this for a living and still survive of it.
