Treasures

Benson, one of the boys from They Poured Fire On Us From The Sky talks about a pair of red shorts his father got him and how much he loves and cherishes them. Is there a specific article of clothing or object that you absolutely adore maybe because it was given to you by a significant someone or simply because it's your favorite? Explain what that article is and the meaning behind it.

  1. For my 16th birthday my mom got me a Tiffany's heart charm bracelet which she engraved "my heart is always with you". It became sort of a tradition that every year on my birthday I get something from Tiffany's. In the final days before she passed away she said to get another bracelet which would be from her. She wanted it to say "you are my sunshine my only sunshine" This was my favorite song as a child and she would sing it to me multiple times during the day. I cherish these 2 bracelets more than anything because I feel her presence when I wear them. Whenever I have something important to do or when I'm nervous I wear them and I feel like she's there to help me.

  3. i dont have exactly one artical of clothing i like the most... i like almost everything i wear. but if i had to choose id probally choose my 30 hour famine shirt. i like this shirt because of two reasons. 1- it is a very artsy shirt and i like art a lot, so this shirt i think is a fun shirt to wear. 2- in order for me to get this shirt i had to work hard and not eat for 30 hours. it was an amazing experience and every time i wear this shirt it reminds me of what i accomplished , and it makes me feel good about myself, showing that i can do anything i put my mind to. so that would be the one article of clothing i like most but like i said its hard to say because i like everything i own.

  5. I would at this moment my favorite item I own would be my signed Beyonce poster she gave me. I deeply cherish it. Fact is I may never meet her again so having something she signed to me is great. She has her own display in my room back at my home. So I would cherish that item for the rest of my life.

  9. I do not have a type of clothing but i do have an item i cherish dearly. My grandma decided to go the store on day and decided to get me a pearl bracelet with two little hearts on it. I wear it almost every day because it means so much. My grandma raised me most of the time as i was growing up. She's like my second mom.
& even though it might not be the most expensive bracelet out there, because it was given by her, it has a lot of value.

Let me tell you something, I love this 77 year old lady! <3 As long as God lets me have her by my side for more time, I will be the happiest girl :)

  12. When my grandpa use to visit my family and I during winter he would always bring his bears jersey jacket. He always wore it when he was cold even in his house in Texas.(mind you it was always 90s and up!) He brought the jacket around 1985 with my parents, so the three of them have the same one. I wanted one but i could not find one anywhere not even online, so I sometimes I would just borrow my moms. Well last friday was a month since my grandpa passed away. I really didnt have anything of his because he would only send cards, money, or clothes. Before leaving his house in Mission, Texas I asked his wife if he still kept that bears jacket. It was the first jacket hanging when she opened the closet and she already knew I wanted it and gave it to me. I wore the jacket in 110 degree weather on the way back to Chicago and I still wear it at home. Its not just a jacket to me its something my grandfather use to wear and evertime I wear it I feel like he is always with me. &The collar still smells like the cologane he use to wear..

  13. I was visiting Mexico at my grandparents house when my grandfather calls me into his bedroom. I go in there with a confused state of mind thinking I'm in some sort of trouble. To my surprise he hands me a gold necklace that his father had given him when he was a boy. He tells me to protect it and that it's all mine. I didn't really understand where this was coming from. I mean, I barely knew him. I was a little thrown off by it, but at the same time honored that he chose to give this precious gem to his grandson visiting from America when he so easily could of given it to one of my cousins that actually lives in Mexico and is familiar with him. With all that said, I still have that necklace. I rarely wear it though because I'm scared something tragic might happen. Maybe someday I'll get the opportunity to pass it once more.
